F.A.Q.
What is the orthomolecular(functional) medicine?
The Functional medicine is a branch of medicine which is based on modern scientific advances.
The orthomolecular(functional) medicine signifies detailed analyses of biochemical imbalances which are the cause of many patients’ diseases and sufferings. These analyses are based on special biochemical tests of urine, blood and hair. Perceiving and understanding of one’s bodily functions is the priority.
Therapies are mainly based on orthomolecules. Orhtomolecules are vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, enzymes, antigens, neurotransmitters, natural hormones and other natural substances for natural correction of biochemical imbalances. Functional medicine provider with patients make dietary and activity changes that, when combined with nutrients targeted to specific functional needs, allow them to really be in charge of improving their own health and changing the outcome of disease.
What are your business hours?
We are open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m Monday through Friday. We are available by phone 9:00am-9:00pm M-F. If you would like further advice in order to help you decide which of these tests are appropriate, please contact customer services on +381 11 3066 230 or by e-mail info@orthomedicare.co.yu
How long does it take to get a test result?
The average turnaround time is between 7-14 days. More complex analytical methodologies may require more time. For up-to-date information on individual tests, please call client services +381 11 3066 230
I am already taking vitamin supplements. Do I need to stop taking them to get accurate results on a nutritional or metabolic analysis?
No. The testing will reveal your total body nutrient status, which is not dramatically effected by supplements that you take the day before the test. Some doctors like to discontinue supplements just to be sure.
Does my/the specimen need to be shipped with dry ice?
No it does not. Refer to the kit instructions for the specific test being ordered. Some tests do require shipment of the specimen in a frozen state. In those cases the testing kit will have plastic ice to send with the specimen. We DO NOT expect or require that the sample(s) arrive frozen. We simply want to keep the sample as cool as possible during the shipping process
How often should I redo the plasma amino test? I have been taking powder supplement for about a year.
You should monitor your amino status every six months or sooner per your clinician’s orders in order to adjust your amino acid formula. Your needs are likely to change after being on the powder for a certain amount of time.
What is difference between conventional and similarity biochemical and functional tests?
Both types of testing have biochemical/medical base.Standard medical tests are designed to identify disease states. Functional testing does not diagnose disease; it helps to give insight into the causes of disease. These profiles help us assess specific metabolic dysfunctions. This allows an approach that is beyond symptom management. Our goal is to identify dysfunctions related to nutritional deficiencies and correct them before disease is allowed to develop.
What is the Organix™ test and what does it measure?
The Organix™ Acids test allows us to measure the organic acids formed in various tissues or by intestinal microbes as metabolic metabolites or end products. Metabolism is the process in which your body converts the food you eat into energy and new structures. Many of the compounds that are found give clues about how your body is working and where specific additions of vitamins or minerals may be needed.
What is the mineral hair analysis? Why do we use hair?
By the mineral hair analysis we determine the amount of essentially needed microelements in our organism – zinc, copper, selenium, manganese, chrome and others. Beside that, this analysis also precisely determines the amount of unwanted, toxic metals in the body of the patient: mercury, cadmium, lead, nickel, aluminium, arsenic and others.
In recent years many doctors, hospitals, institutes and other laboratories all over the world show more and more interest for the mineral hair analysis. These special analyses are not only the supplement to the classic medical-laboratory analysis, but they are also of great help to observation of biochemical processes in our body and diseases that are being developed.
Deficiencies of the essentially needed microelements and minerals, as well as the overload of body with toxic heavy metals cause reactions in our body which lead to biochemical imbalances, general disorder, even to some great afflictions and diseases.
